June
2005.
For those of you travelling the Pacific
Highway through North Sydney you may have noticed construction
of a new office complex where once was located the only petrol
station in the region. What you may not be aware of is the camera
mounted on the roof of the Northpoint building directly opposite.
Eon-FX was engaged to cover this project
in 2004 however complications arose that delayed installation
of the system. Now we have been given the go-ahead the camera
is capturing the construction progress and results have already
been generated.
The construction company Thies Pty Ltd
is now considering connection of this stand alone system to
the Internet so that images can be updated and viewed remotely.
It might seem a simple task but the logistics of having the
system on top of the highest building in North Sydney have already
proved a daunting challenge.
"If we can obtain an ADSL link to
the unit the rest is pretty straight forward. The VM95 software
can be configured to take care of all fast ftp transfers and
update the web server automatically" said Greg Dunn of
Eon-FX. "We can also provide automated secondary archiving,
automatic MPeg creation and a range of Java Applets for web
site display to suit the client's needs. The Applet we use the
most allows the viewer to move and zoom around the high resolution
frame as if they were controlling a pan/tilt camera."
We will keep you informed of our progress
and hope to post a link to the relevant web page soon.
