Energy Australia - Kurnell substation expansion

Energy Australia Kurnell Sydney , Aus.
Monitoring construction of : Kurnell Substation expansion

EnergyAustralia is replacing two 132,000 Volt transmission feeders (each feeder is a bundle of three cables) between Earlwood and Matraville (Canterbury and Bunnerong subtransmission substations). These feeders are key elements of the supply to inner metropolitan Sydney and they are scheduled to be replaced by the end of 2010.

The new supply to Bunnerong will be established via two new 132,000 Volt feeders from Kurnell (instead of from Earlwood), including a submarine cable crossing of Botany Bay. The project also includes associated substation works at the Kurnell and Bunnerong substations.

The Botany Bay Cable Project key part of EnergyAustralia’s plans to maintain a safe and reliable electricity supply to homes and businesses in the southern, eastern and inner suburbs of Sydney.

The cable installation is being carried out on behalf of EnergyAustralia by VISCAS Corporation and its subcontractors. EnergyAustralia has contracted Van Oord to conduct the dredging works.

There is no time-lapse available yet for this project.
