Not Just Webcams, not just a slide-show
Our standard time-lapse solution uses a 10 megapixel
digital SLR with quality optics to capture images. Some out there are
claiming they can compete directly with our time-lapse solutions. Some
only use webcams or IP Network cameras straight out of the security
industry. Others use hobbled together hardware and software and try to deal with operating such technology in long term applications as best they can. We are the experts in post producing quality time-lapse video sequences and understand this is not a simple part of the process. Our results speak for themselves and we take pride in being the market leaders in quality long-term time-lapse solutions.
A
few questions you might want to ask if you think you have found a
direct competitor. (We don't know of any so please let us know if you
find one.)
• What is the resolution of the camera? (we can control up to 21 megapixels)
• What industry background do they come from? (ours is film, television and rich media for the web)
• Do they use watchdog micro-processor circuitry for long term reliability? (We do)
•
Do they have secure Internet services? (we use TPIPS VPN and Cisco PIX)
• Do they provide useful web delivery? (We have developed many applications for this purpose.)
• What sort of camera pole do they suggest? (we suggest only high mass/low deflection poles.)
• What mounting system do they use? (ours are proprietary for increased rigidity)
• Can their captured images be used in print? (Ours are the same as a professional photographer's)
• Can they produce broadcast video HDTV and/or 2K? (that's what we do)
• Do they have examples of their work? (If so, compare that to our showreels)
Let's compare time-lapse output. Here's the output direct from the camera. Look familiar? Oh and no, its not one we installed and maintained. So here's a version after we have done our post magic.
Let's compare image quality.
|
Webcam classed 'high resolution' @ 702 x 576 (High resolution? Compared to what?)
|
|
IP Network camera @ 5 megapixels (That's good resolution but colour quality?)
|
|
Eon-FX Image @ 6 megapixel (We can now capture up to 21 megapixels!)
